Office Cell Phone Etiquette

A cell phone is a great help for work, but there must be a proper time when and proper knowledge how to use the cellular phone.

• Turn your ringing tone to silent mode or turn it off

Your cell phone rings like as an emergency and all look at you like you are crazy. Do not want to be the major hero of this picture? Then make your phone as calm as possible. This will save your nerves and the nerves of your workmates.

• Cellular phones for important calls only

You are an adult, come on – this is so easy to classify whether or not a call is important or not. Important calls are the ones that need urgent response like emergency situations such involving the family or other necessary people.

• Voice Mail while you cannot answer

This is a very useful feature – use it. It has to be understood that you are in your workplace and your total attention must be rendered for your job. With the help of Voice Mail you can respond later.

• Find a private place for making calls

Even at break time it is not great to ansnwer the phone calls – some of your co-employees are still doing some work and your call might distract them. That is why finding a truly private place to answer the calls is a great idea. BUT…

• The rest room is not the right place

If you ask why – then try once and then you will understand. But we highly recommend you not trying it.

In most cases, cellular phones are media for identity theft. As mentioned in Wikipedia, it is due to "scanning" whereby third parties in the local area could intercept and eavesdrop in on calls. Another point is that Analogue phones could also be listened to on some radio scanners. This must be a warning to all cellular phone users; we have to be very careful in our use of our cellular phones. We could enjoy all the services these innovations offer but we have to see to it that we protect ourselves from untoward outcomes as well.

• Use of cellular phones in aircrafts

It is a general knowledge that the use of cellular phones while one is in an aircraft is impossible. This all rooted from an incident way back in 2000 when it was aired that an aircraft crashed due to a passenger’s cellular phone use. Studies tell that Cellular phones and other mobile devices could be used to detonate remote Improvised Explosive Devices. Though there is not much proof about it yet, it has been an internationally-known policy not to use cell phones in flight.

These are really important points to take note of. Though some of them do not have concrete proofs, it must still be taken with importance and caution. There is no harm in doing so.

Cell Phone Industry History and Growth

The amazing technology of cell phones has been experiencing surprising growth and development these days.

Cell phones were introduced in 1947 as gadgets that can be used from cars. Since then their purpose was achieved and greatly exceeded.

Name of the gadget was originated from the word ‘cellular’ normally used with the word ‘phone’. Word ‘cellular’ means that phone’s entire technology is based on signal cells, each of them contains transmitter as a centre that assures the mobility and the great range, almost worldwide, of mobile phones. These transmitters form a network without uncovered spaces. Notwithstanding the fact that there is a number of uncovered areas, most civilized and populated locations can boast availability of mobile phone operators and network coverage.

Nowadays, mobile phone network try to cover as many technological areas as possible. Up-to-date phone features include watching TV, playing games, taking pictures and making movies,  colour dosplay and MP3 players. Some of them just like PC’s have Windows installed, others can even compete with game consoles like Nintendo due to a number of options they offer.

Competitive environment has encouraged mobile phone developers to produce more sophisticated gadgets. Japan is known to have always been a pioneer in the cell phone industry which boasted TV broadcasting and digital cameras built in the phones long before they appeared in America and Europe. Japanese manufactures along with leading worldwide producers try to do their best to come up with new options for a cell phone, following a fixed goal: to create the perfect phone that can stand for all multimedia and communication devices and a phone that combines everything from communication to utility.

It can be assumed that cell phone can surprise us even more by introducing, for instance, holographic images. But no matter what the next step is going to be, mobile phone industry is being constatntly improved and modified, even as we speak and cell phones have a bright future ahead of them.

Cell Phone Use in Public Places – Why Banning Cell Phones in Public

You cannot argue with that fact that mobile phones are great invention. They became very important part of our lives in these modern times but on the other side, they have caused a lot of negative consequences for the public especially. The misuse of this device could really cause negative emotions for many people.

Did you have such unpleasant experience in public: you are in a public bus; an extremely loud ringing tone destroys the moment? And an extremely loud voice started to be like a blabbermouth … you could hear even the most private conversations… without any pinch of discreet manner from the user. Why are they doing such things?

According to one respectable newspaper “Some people due to some natural peculiarities of their nature speak louder when they are on the phone, and sometimes if there is a bad signal they will often repeat what they have said several times. It is possible that one of the main reasons we take offence at people using a mobile in close proximity to us is because we only ever hear half the conversation.  It doesn’t make sense and because we are naturally curious and like a puzzle with half the pieces missing we frustrated by being unable to see the complete picture.”

Really, no matter how we try, we can`t ignore listening to mobile phone conversations of others in a bus, a train, in the mall or any public place for that matter. Yes, listening and not hearing. Thus, it is on purpose. This scene is annoying you, right? Here is one more situation – you are down with all your appetite- eating lunch at your desk since you have a very short lunch break and in the middle of it, you just stop right off the bat because of a phone ringing somewhere. Is it not so disruptive? We should turn our mobile phones in a silent mode when we are at work; we are in a public place… Ringing tones are great and cool and they are some form of self expression. However, they are not something to show-off. There is always a time for everything.

You should be attentive to other people and you must understand what words “real freedom” mean. Use your cellular as an extension of your self- use it with the right amount of privacy. You just do not realize how annoying such situations can be and how many people get annoyed because you do not make an effort to use your cell properly.
