The Nokia N900 will look to bridge the gap between a smartphone and compact laptop. This is something Nokia have invested a lot of time and money doing and the N900 seems to have taken us one step closer.

Combine all that horsepower with the new Linux-based Maemo 5 software, and the N900 enables you to multi-task as you would on a PC (the Maemo platform was first designed for computers) – this set-up means you can quickly flit between stacks of apps running simultaneously and smoothly.

This fusion of the Maemo 5 platform and significant processing power is brought to life through the now familiar combo of a high-res WVGA touchscreen and full physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It also stomachs 32GB of storage, expandable up to 48GB with a microSD card leg-up, and is home to a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. Plus, other features include A-GPS, an FM transmitter, and up to 9 hours of talk time.

The Nokia N900 is geared up to let you browse the web just as how you would on your PC with a browser based on Mozilla technology, this will ensure the webpages look just the same as they would on a laptop or PC. Watching online video and enjoying online apps is also made possible thanks to full Adobe Flash 9.4 support that has been added. Couple this with speedy internet access, realized via HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, and the N900 promises to deliver the best pocket-friendly online experience to date. As mentioned earlier the Nokia N900 should be available towards the end of 2009 and will cost about £500 if you want this phone sim free and unlocked. This mobile phone as created alot of hype and chatter on the internet forums and chat rooms and we expect this to be a big seller for Nokia in 2009 and 2010.

Keep Your Conversation To Yourself

To many of us in the developed western world it would appear that everyone and their dog now has a mobile phone. We should all be aware that around half of the worlds population will have never made or received a telephone call.

This really highlights the technological gulf that exists between the developed countries and the developing countries.

But there are plenty of people who believe that mobile phones are actually more of a scourge and not very useful. Have you used a bus or a train lately?

I routinely travel by train to and from London and I’m forced to listen to various telephone conversations that, before the mobile phone revolution, would have never taken place. On my way home on the train from London each evening I’m forced to listen to people calling their partners simply to tell them that they are on the train. And every evening I have to listen to the same people making the same calls with the same useless message. How did they manage before mobile phones?

I’m also forced to listen to the inane conversations of teenagers that make no sense whatsoever. Their conversations seem to be focused on their boring lives, the television programmes they’ve been watching or criticising their boyfriends. In one conversation that was heard recently a young lady described a recent sexual experience with a young man in far too much detail. As she proceeded to describe her experience in far too much detail everyone in the compartment was squirming with embarassment.

Inconsiderately forcing people to listen to one side of your mobile phone conversation is one way in which modern mobile phone use is anti-social. Another is those incredibly irritating and often far too loud ringtones that are supposed to sound like a popular tune but don’t.

We all need to be reminded of how lucky we are to even own mobile phones. People who use their mobile phones to describe their sex lives should be banned from owning them.

If you have a mobile phone you will definitely want some affordable mobile phone insurance. Similarly, if you have a laptop computer it would be wise to spend a little on some laptop insurance. You can protect all of your valuable gadgets and gizmos including cameras, iPhones and games consoles with some very affordable gadget insurance.

Samsung Eternity A867 Plus – Best Samsung Cell Phones

samsung cell phone: Simply, this is a wonderful little handset with a lot of neat features. So, it’s probably going to be worth the wait. Some of its best features include:

The new handset will soon be available for purchase on the AT&T carrier. It will cost $99 but that is after you receive a $50 mail-in rebate. This cell phone is able to be customized with specially designed widgets
. The Samsung Eternity has a large 3.2″ touch screen that has haptic support and this phone provides subtle vibration that confirms selections. The only drawback to the Samsung Eternity is that it features a black and chrome exterior. The only trouble with black is that it will show all the smudges.

The AT&T carrier will also be able to get the handset. It’ll cost you $99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, meaning your upfront cost (before rebate) is going to be $149. You can customize your cell phone with widgets that are specially designed for it. The handset has a 3.2-inch wide touchscreen, with haptic support. You’ll get a subtle vibration that will confirm your selections as well. It does have one slight drawback, in that the chrome and black exterior will show smudges and fingerprints.

The phone has a nice, clean look at first glance. The back cover is actually made of plastic although it feels like brushed metal. It is a bit disappointing that the camera lacks a portrait mirror or flash. The 3.5mm headphone jack located on the side does make it clear it is intended for music.

Touch Wiz UI feature The Samsung Eternity A867 Plus also has a great feature, the Touch Wiz UI. It doesn’t have many widgets at present, but Samsung will be releasing more of them in the fall, reports say. One of the easiest to access is the “sound profile” widget, which has a calculator and a profiles widget that goes with Bluetooth. The menu for Bluetooth is very easy to use. The regular menu contains Address Book, AT&T GPS, Messaging, My Stuff, and YellowPages, among other things.

The cell phone is capable of using SMS, IM, MSN, MMS, AIM, and Yahoo! This phone has mobile email but it is limited to basic providers of POP3. There is a nice, roomy keyboard and the T9 feature, but this was found to be very inaccurate. You will also get a regular number pad for texting and recognition of handwriting.

samsung mobile phones: Is the Samsung Eternity A867 Plus worth the money? It’s most definitely for you if you want full touch technology, sleek and stylish sophistication, and the latest entertainment options. You can get immediate access to the Internet, true, but you can also get the latest in entertainment, and you’ll likely like the top 3G/HSDPA device. The phone has a full touch QWERTY keyboard, and an on-board accelerometer. It also has vibration responsiveness with a 3.2-inch display that gives you crisp clarity and makes Internet surfing almost as much fun as doing it on a full-sized computer — all in something that you can just slip into your pocket. Chances are, if you try the Samsung Eternity A867 Plus, you’ll like it.

Nokia 5800 Product Focus – Is This The Future Of Touchscreen Mobile Phones?

nokia: Recently announced is the first mainstream touchscreen device from Finnish manufacturer Nokia. They’ve made touchscreen mobile phones before, but… nothing like the awesomeness of the new Nokia 5800!

Nokia and touchscreens – lessons from history

Believe it or not, the Nokia 5800 isn’t the first of their mobile phones to feature a touchscreen. That accolade goes all the way back to the Nokia 7700, a mobile phone that, well, never actually got released. But it was still the first, nevertheless. It’s just a shame, really, that Nokia’s first attempt at a touchscreen mobile phone was, frankly, rubbish, since it had a bit of a dodgy interface, the looks… well, the looks were described as anything from ‘a bit misjudged’, to ‘looks like a taco’, all the way up to ‘bad prop from Star Trek’. The follow-up, the Nokia 7710 wasn’t much better, being a bit buggy, still huge, and it lacked the features that other mobile phones were rapidly starting to have (cameras, 3G and so on). After that, the only Nokia devices to have touchscreens were not actually mobile phones, as the concept was shifted over to their range of internet tablets.

But now, touchscreen mobile phones are all set to make a triumphant return to the Nokia range, with their newest and bestest touchscreen mobile phone ever: the Nokia 5800.

Nokia 5800 – touchscreen mobile phones for the masses

Soon to be released, the Nokia 5800 is sure to have a very big effect on their portfolio of mobile phones. And the inspiration of it can be traced back to the release of the iPhone, so you can be absolutely sure they’ve made the Nokia 5800 as slick and as user-friendly as possible. The new S60 Touch interface in the Nokia 5800 is tremendously elegant, as well as being really rather powerful. Put simply, it’s a joy to navigate round, and so much nicer than many other mobile phones on the market. Combine with a list of top-notch features, like 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA and so on, and you get a really cool smartphone. But it’s with music that the Nokia 5800 really shines, as it’s music that this beautiful mobile phone lives for, with a music player that really is second to none. In conclusion, I can sincerely say that the Nokia 5800 is one of the most impressive mobile phones I’ve seen in a long time.

But the surprising thing is… the Nokia 5800 is a mid-range mobile phone, not a top-ender. So what will happen, when the Nokia 5800 magically morphs into the first touchscreen Nseries mobile phone.

Nokia 5800 in Blue is Vodafone Exclusive – Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic

Joining the existing Red edition of the Nokia 5800 is a new colour variant of the XpressMusic phone, the blue edition of this new music inspired phone has been launched as a network exclusive by Vodafone in the UK.

This means that consumers will only be able to connect the new Nokia 5800 blue to the range of Vodafone pay monthly tariffs, this somewhat limitates the choice of tariff on offer so consumers cannot compare prices from other networks.

Network exclusive launches are not always in the consumers best interest as the number of packages available is limited to just that one network, as an example the customer may require 400 inclusive minutes per month and 1000 text, in this case Vodafone may offer either 300 or 500 in their packages where as Orange offer the exact deal. This means that the consumer will end up paying extra charges each month as they could not connect the blue Nokia 5800 to their chosen networks tariff.

In this latest situation however their is a compromise, although the Nokia 5800 blue is only available on Vodafone the red edition has been released on O2, Orange and T-Mobile pay mothly packages so as long as the consumer is not too fussy when it comes to the colour of their phone they can get the model they like with the correct number of minutes and text to suit their usage.

Both the red and the blue Nokia 5800 are not completely covered in the colour in their desciption, thankfully both model only change the colur of the surrounding accents so the differences are not too noticeable.

The Nokia 5800 has a dedicated Media Bar meaning mobile entertainment is always on hand. High-resolution widescreen video and superior surround sound, with built0-in stereo speakers and an advanced music player. Download new sounds to the 8GB microSD card, and sync your collection with Nokia Music software for PC.

Put your favourtie people on your home screen and share moments and media as they happen. Shoot 3.2 megapixel stills, video and seamlessly showcase them online with photo sharing services like Share on Ovi or Flickr. Broadcast yourself or download the latest videos.

The Nokia 5800 is the first Nokia phone to feature touchscreen technology, the next model is the flagship Nokia N97 due for release soon. This amazing 3.2″ high-resolution touchscreen looks unlike any other and puts everything at your fingertips. Perfectly proportioned for one hand, featuring responsive fingertip, stylus, or plectrum control, automatic screen rotation, and tactile feedback. With a choice of alphanumeric keypad, full QWERTY keyboard, or handwriting for fast messaging.

The nokia cell phone: Blue edition is likely to stay as a network exclusive mobile phone for some weeks to come, once this initial launch period has expired then the other network operators will be able to offer this music phone on their own tariffs. The red edition Nokia 5800 has been launched on T-Mobile, Orange and O2 tariffs along with a recent release as a Pay As You Go phone, there are further network launches expected in the near future.
